Now here is a great Buddhist mountain! One week is not enough to hike to all the temples and sites here. There are more than 45 temples scattered around. Wutaishan, Five Terrace Mountain is just that, five rounded mountain lumps circle around the town of 太懷( 怀) Taihuai its center, like the petals of a lotus. It is located in northern Shanxi Province. Wutaishan is the home of the bodhisattva Manjusri and one of the Five Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, the others being Jiuhuashan. Putuoshan, Tiantaishan and Emeishan. |
