| The northermost of the Five Sacred Mountains of China in northern Shanxi Province. Very much a Daoist mountain with numerous Daoist temples scattered over its slopes. It is interesting that visitors don't often stay overnight here. They come from Datong, two hour's drive north, or from Wutaishan and just pass through. There are only two or three very small basic inns here. I stayed overnight and must admit to feeling a bit lonely. And the mountain itself is not a warm welcoming mountain. Why is this? I don't know. |
