Occasional Poem 9 of 10
        Su Manshu 1884-1918

Green Jade don't regret
        your low birth,
My lovely maiden
        only you
                can dispell my sorrows!
Sprinkling my kasaya
        here and there
                like cherry blossoms,
Half specks of powder
        half stains of teardrops.

Bénshi Shī Shíshōu (Jiǔ)
Sū Mànshū 1884-1918

Bìyù mò chóu shénshì jiàn,
Tóngxiāng xiānzǐ dú xiāohún.
Jiāshā diǎndiǎn huáiyí yīng bàn,
Bàn shì zhī hén bàn lěihén.

Translator: Dongbo 東波

Notes:
As was often the case, when he came into some cash, or at the invitation of friends, Su would forsake his vows and his bald pate, and carouse with Geisha and singing girls, whose birth was of course 'low'.
