In Praise of Huaqing Palace
Du Chang fl. 1080

A journey of dozens of stages from the Southland ends
With the pale moon and dawn clouds of Huaqing
And the West Wind rushing past Sunrise Pavilion
Entering the tall willows it sounds like rain

Yǒng Qīnghuá Gōng
Dù Cháng fl. 1080

Xíng jìn jiāngnán shù shí chéng,
Xiǎo fēng cán yuè rù Huáqīng.
Zhāoyuán Gé shàng xī fēng jí,
Dōu rù cháng yáng zuò yǔ shēng.

Translator: Red Pine-Bill Porter 赤松

Notes:
From the book Poems of the Masters, China's Classic Anthology of Tang and Song Dynasty verse. One of the best, if not "the best", books of general translations of Chinese poetry. Wonderfully detailed notes on each poem and all poems are displayed in the original Chinese.

Translated by Red Pine, published by Copper Canyon Press.
