Liuzhou Banyan Trees Disrobed
        Liu Zongyuan 773-819

My career stymied
        pathetic...pitiful,
Mid spring feels like chill fall
        so much is lost.
In this mountain city after squall
        a hundred flowers battered,
Banyan leaves scattered in the yard
        an oriole's chaotic keen.

Liǔzhōu Róngyè Luòjìn Tí
Liǔ Zōngyuán 773-819

Huàn qíng jī sī gōng qīqī,
Chūnbàn rú qiūyì zhuǎn mí.
Shānchéng guò yǔ bǎihuā jìn,
Róngyè mǎn tíng yīng luàn tí.

Notes:
Written while Liu Zongyuan was enduring his second exile, this time to Liuzhou in Guangxi.
